I tried to create a blog called "I Hate Books" but some other jerk-off already snagged that Blogspot.
This will be a repository for all of the reviews I've conducted over the years that have disappeared from the internet, either because they were lost, removed, or the sites shut down.
If you want me to review your book, you can e-mail me at: Scott_Lefebvre@hotmail.com
Please bear in mind that I prefer hard copies, as in galley prints, softcovers, and hardcovers.
I'll even read a proof printed out on sheets of 8.5"X11" if that's all you've got.
But reading stuff using my laptop screen gives me eyestrain headaches after anything over five pages and I can't afford a tablet or a Kindle or any other kind of e-reader.
So if it's over five "pages" long I won't ruin my eyes by trying to read your digital galley or "e-book".
Also please have it editorially sound.
I'm not a grammar nazi, but I am a spelling/usage nazi.
So have all of your "it's"/"its", ""we're"/"were", "they're"/"there"/their", and "your"/"you're" in order or I am going to hate you.
I don't review books for pay, I review books for free, at least as far as authors are concerned, as I do not believe in the whole "pay-for-play" scenario.
But if you want to republish my content, please contact me and we'll work something out.
Or if you want me to edit/rewrite/ghostwrite your work, the same applies.
I'm much better at editing spelling/usage than grammar, obviously, but since most of the more obvious errors in an early draft are spelling/usage, my services are worth retaining.
If I say I'll read and review your book, as long as it's not so awful that it defeats me, you will get a good review.
By "good" I mean that you will get a well-written and fairly comprehensive review.
I do not mean that everything will automatically receive a positive review as I am not a promotional blurb factory like almost every other media outlet.
I review books, I do not get paid to advertise or promote them like every other media outlet.
If I can't think of anything nice to say about your book, I will message you privately and tell you that your book is unreadable and I decline to review it.
On with the show!
About the Reviewer: Scott Lefebvre has probably read everything you've read and can write about whatever you want him to write about.
Mostly because when he was grounded for his outlandish behavior as a hyperactive school child, the only place he was allowed to go was the public library.
His literary tastes were forged by the works of Helen Hoke, Alvin Schwartz and Stephen Gammell, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Edgar Allan Poe, and H. P. Lovecraft.
He is the author of Spooky Creepy Long Island and a contributing author to Forrest J. Ackerman’s Anthology of the Living Dead, Fracas: A Collection of Short Friction, The Call of Lovecraft, and Cashiers du Cinemart.
His reviews have been published by a variety of print and online media including Scars Magazine, Icons of Fright, Fatally Yours and Screams of Terror, and he has appeared in Fangoria, Rue Morgue and HorrorHound Magazine.
He is the Assistant Program Director for The Arkham Film Society and produces Electronic Music under the names Master Control and LOVECRAFTWORK.
He is currently working on a novel-length expansion of a short-story titled, "The End Of The World Is Nigh" a crowd-funded, crowd-sourced, post-apocalyptic, zombie epidemic project.
